Masterton:—August 26: Miss R. Robinson reported as follows for tike 24 hours ended 9 a.m.’: 30.20; shade temperature, maximum. l 63.6, minimum 46; terrestrial, 40'; rain, 2 points. August 27: Barograph, 30.15;- shade temperature, maximum 64.8, minimum 44; terrestrial, 36; sunshine, 8 hours 42 minutes; rain, 1 point. The Government Meteorologist (Dr. E. Kidson) reported at 4 p.m. yesterday:—A shallow depression t is still situated off the west coast of the Dominion while an Intense anti-cyclone covers the greater part of the Tasman Stea; forecast, winds light' to 1 moderate and variable, but southerlies'' soon prevailing and freshening, especially in northern districts; weather still cloudy to overcast, with scattered' rain in fenost districts, mainly fair,, however, in the western portion of the South Island and conditions gradually improving generally.
