DRY WEATHER.
DAIRY FARMERS FACING SHORTAGE OF FEED POSITION IN MID-WAIRARAPA Although the position at present is not nearly so bad as it was last year, the dry autumn experienced in the mid-Wairarapa is not without its serious aspects to the dairy farmer. There is no growth of grass yet to carry stock over the winter and the danger is becoming greater of frosts checking any growth that may set in. So far there is no demand for artificial feed but all the same the outlook is, not too promising, particularly in the midWairarapa, unless a good rainfall ia experienced in the near future. One man closely connected with farming interests observed that he did not know •what the dairy farmer was going to do for winter grazing, with the present returns from butterfat. A number of dairymen would have to obtain grazing for the winter. “I don’t like the outlook for cattle at all,” he added.
