WELLINGTON, April 6. Prime lambs were cheaper, and heavy prime ewes advanced 1/- at yesterday's sale at Johnsonville. Messrs Wright, Stephenson and Co., Ltd., offered a smaller yarding of ox beef, while cows and heifers were yarded up to usual numbers. Ox beef met a good demand at late rates. Cows and heifers were of mixed quality. Prime heavy sorts sold well at late rates, while for plain and unfinished there was no demand. Vealers sold well at last week's rates. The sheep yarding comprised mostly plain wethers, with a few pens of prime heavier sheep. Prime wethers met a good sale at last week’s rates, while inferior and plain were practically unsaleable. There was a large yarding of ewes. Extra heavy prime ewes showed an advance of 1/on last week's rates, while plain, light nnd unfinished sheep sold well at Ihst week's prices. There were very few pens of good quality lambs yarded, prime sorts declined from 1/to 1/6, while light and unfinished were bn a par. Cattle: Heavy bullocks, £7/10/- to £6/12/-. Medium bullocks, £6/6/- to £5/1/-; prime heavy cows and heifers, £5 to £4/10/-; cows and heifers, £3 17/1 to £3; runners, £2 to £l/10/-; vealers, £l/8/6 to 19/-.
