“BRING ’EM BACK ALIVE”
AN EXCELLENT WILD ANIMAL FILM. A private screening was given at the Regent Theatre yesterday morning of “Bring ’em Back Alive,” a particularly fine sound picture of wild animals in their native haunts in Malayan jungles. The picture is to open a season at the Regent Theatre to-morrow. Amongst those who attended at the invitation of the manager, Mr. A. E. Tong/were the Mayor and Mayoress, Mr. and Mrs. T. Jordan; the chairman of the Trust Lands Trust, Mr. E. G. Eton; the chairman of the Wairarapa Secondary Education Board, Mr. W. H. Jackson and Mrs. Jackson; Mr. H. B. Tomlinson, Principal of the Wairarapa High School; Mr. O. H. E. Yates, Act-ing-Principal of the Masterton Technical School; Mr. A. W. Don, Principal of Hadlow School; Mr. F. E. S. Rockel (Masterton West School); Mr. .V. E. Donald, who has had personal experience of big game hunting; members of the Trust Lands Trust and Secondary Education Board, and representatives of St. Patrick’s School and St. Bride’s Convent.
The picture was freely praised by those who attended the private screening. The photography is excellent and many thrilling episodes of jungle life are splendidly portrayed. The range of animal life brought to the screen is rich and varied. Mr. Frank Buck, leader of the expedition with whose adventures the picture deals, is seen capturing a baby elephant. One series of scenes shows a terrific encounter between a tiger and a thirtyfoot python. This affair makes the fiercest 'contest between a pair of human wrestlers look like the trifling sport of children. Other animals seen to great advantage “in their habit as they live,” are the black panther, crocodile, water buffalo, monitor lizard, assorted members of the monkey tribe, and a quaint honey bear.
