CHESS FOR WINTER.
masterton chub being REVIVED. ACTIVE STEPS taken Away back in 1905 a chess club was formed’in Masterton and it is actually still in existence, with a representative on the New Zealand Chess Bbard. The last two years, however, have been spout in recess and efforts are now being made to revive interest. At a meeting of chess players held last night it was decided to take active steps to resuscitate the club and a further meeting is being called on SaturApril 22, after the conclusion «,f the bowling season. Those who were present last night felt quite optimistic about, being able to enrol a good membership. It was decided to start immediately with ladder and tournament games. Those desirous of learning the game will be welcome and any new players wishing to become members will bo trught how to play.
