SWIMMERS ENTERTAINED.

MAORIS PRESENT A TROPHY. N.S.W. VISITORS. ROTORUA, April 5. At a special function held at Ohinemutu Pa last evening the visiting Australian swimming team, Messrs O. Griffiths, F. Griffiths, V. Besomo, and C. Phillips, were entertained. There was a large Maori gathering at which a specially carved Maori shield was presented as a gift of the Arawa tribe to the New South Wales Swimming Association. It was suggested by Mr. 11. Tai Mitchell, who made the presentation on behalf of the OhAemutu Swimming Club that the trophy be allocated to the New .South Wales 100yds championship. The gift was made as a recognition of -the interest taken by the team in developing Maori swimmers.—(P.A.)
