MASTERTON SALE.
LOAN & MERCANTILE CO., LTD. The New Zealand Loan and. Mercantile Agency Coy., Ltd., report on the Masterton sale as follows: A medium entry of sheep was submitted to a good attendance of buyers. Competition and prices were on a par with recent sales, a clearance being effected as follows: 122 b.f. lambs, 8/4; 20 do., 9/9; 22 do., 8/-; 31 do., 8/-; 60 w.f. wether lambs, 7/-; 26 do., 5/8; 12 small 2-th. ewes, 9/3; 28 do., 8/-. F.C.D. COMPANY LTD. The New Zealand Farmers’ Co-op. Distributing Co., Ltd., report on their weekly sale as follows; Our entry consisted of 2320 sheep, 25 cattle and 52 pigs, which were offered to a large attendance. Fat ewes and good fat lambs were in demand and advanced slightly, while all the other classes were on a par with late sales. Although several pens failed to reach the vendors’ reserves at auction most of them were sold afterwards. Cattle sold well while pigs remained the same. We quote:— Fat sheep: Fat wethers, 12/2, 12/3 to .12/6; fat ewes, 7/6, 7/9 to 8/-; heavy lambs 11/3, I'l/7, 12/1 to 12/4; fair lambs, 9/6 to 10/8; light iambs, 8/-, 8/6 to 8/9. Store sheep: Good woolly wether Jambs 7/6, 8/-, 8/2 to 8/5; medium do. 6/-, 6/5, 6/9 to 7/-; small do., 3/9 to 4/6; medium b.f. lambs, 7/2 to 7/6; 2-th .wethers, 9/4, 9/8, to 9/9; small do. 8/ to 8/1; 4 and 5-yr. ewes r.w. S.D., 7/3; 2 m. do., 5/5; P.B. 2-th Rom. ewes 15/-; store ewes 3/2 to 5/-; Southdown rams | to 1 gn. Cattle: Jersey cross heifers r.w.b. £2 13/-; fat Jersey cows, £l/9/-, £2/3/- to £2/7/-; fat Jersey steers, £2/10/-; potter cows, 15/-, 20/- to 24/-. Pigs: Slips, 8/6 to 9/6; good weaners 6/-, 7/- to 8/-; small weaners, 4/6 to v-.
