PERSONAL.
Constable ’F. Larsen, of Wellington, is at present on relieving duty in Masterton. Mr. Frederick Lawrence, Senr., a well-known farmer of the Wafiiakeke district, passed away at his residence yesterday morning. The late Mr. Lawrence was 54 years of age and leaves a widow and one son. A Press Association report from Wellington, published yesterday, stating that the retirement of the DirectorGeneral of Agriculture, Dr. C. J. Reakes, would be announced almost immediately, is officially denied. The death took place at Carterton yesterday of Mrs Mabel Lena Richards, wife of Mr. H. L Richards. The late Mrs Richards was attending to household duties when she complained of not feeling well. A few moments later she collapsed, death being due to heart failure. The late Mrs Richards, who was 52 years of age, was a daugh-
ter of the late Mr. and Mrs W. B. Fairbrother, former well-known residents of the district.
