TRADE WITH AUSTRALIA.
NEGOTIATIONS FOB NEW TREATY. FINALITY EXPECTED SOON. % WELLINGTON, April 5. The representatives of the New Zealand and Australian Governments negotiating for a new trade treaty are holding long sittings and the indications to-night are that the discussions cannot be finished before the end of this week, which means that the Australian delegates will have to delay their return until next week. Finality is expected to be reached within a few days but it is unlikely that an early announcement will be made concerning the contents of the new agreement. This will have to be ratified by both Parliaments and it is not usual for the terms of trade treaties to be made known beforehand, although a brief outline of the result of the conference may be expected.—(P.A.)
