LORD BLEDISLOE’S VISIT.

PREPARATIONS IN GREYTOWN.

A letter intimating that the Governor -General would be visiting Greytown on January 28, from 11 a.m. to '12.20 p.m., was read at Monday night's meeting of the Greytown Borough Council. The Mayor (Mr. H. T. Rees) stated that, in compliance with His Excellency’s request, it was not proposed to make any elaborate preparations for the reception. This would be held at the Town Hall, where a platform would be erected for the official party and members of the council and wives. People of the town and district would bo invited to attend and it was expected that the Boy Scouts and Girl Guides would attend in full force. The Guides had already offered to provide a Guard of Honour. Business people would be asked to display as much bunting as possible and to dose their premises from 11 a.m. The Mayoress, with a committee of ladies, intended serving morning tea to the official party in the Town Hall supper room. i

Councillors considered that the proposed arrangements were very complete and no further suggestions were made.
