CLUB FLYING.
A RECONDITIONED 'PLANE.
Written off by the Government eighteen months ago, the aeroplane ZK-ACD has now been completely reconditioned by the Wairarapa Aero Club’s Ground Engineer, Mr. J. H. Preston, and presents a brave appearance as she goes flying through the air on these pleasant summer days. The ’plane looks particularly well, painted in the club’s colours of green and silver. This is a serviceable finish and at the same time gives a very fine appsaranse.
Os. Thursday last, the ’plane was flown to Christchurch by Flying-Officer J. Buckeridge, with Mr. Preston as passenger. The journey, via Blenheim, where a call was made for petrol, was covered in three and a half hours, the weather being perfect. In Christchurch, the ’plane underwent a very rigid inspection for airworthiness. The return journey from Christchurch to Blenheim was made on Saturday. Departing from Blenheim on Sunday at 4 a.m., the ’plane reached Pirinoa at 5.10 a.m. Flying was carried out at Pirinoa and Martinborough throughout tho day, and the ’plane arrived in Masterton at 5 o’clock on Sunday evening. Since returning from Christchurch, ZK-ACD has been in constant use for dual instruction work. Eight pupils are at present being trained in Masterton and they ere reported to be making very good progress.
