SPAHLINGER SERUM.
EXPERIMENTS IN NORTHERN IRELAND. DISCLOSURE OF STRIKING RESULTS. INOCULATED CALVES RESIST TUBERCLE GERMS. (Received Monday, 9.20 p.m.) LONDON, December 19. “The Times’’ Belfast correspondent says the Northern Ireland Ministry of Agriculture’s tests of the Spahlinger vaccine disclosed striking results. Eleven calves were inoculated with anti-tubercle serum and seven were not vaccinated. Subsequently all were given a lethal dose of tubercle germs. Five of the unvaccinated calves died. The eleven vaccinated calves are alive and in excellent health. Two of the unvaccinated calves are alive and apparently in normal health, indicating that a few animals can naturally resist tuberculosis.
