WEATHER REPORTS.
Masterton: Miss R. Robinson reported at 9 a.m. as follows:— December 17: Barograph, 30.30; shade temperature, -maximum 83.4, minimum 48.6; terrestrial, 39.8; bright sunshine, 13 hours 42 minutes. The Government Meteorologist (Dr. E. Kidson) reported at 4 p.m. yesterday:—An intense anti-cyclone still -remains centred east of the Dominion, while a complex depression now extends between New South Wales and south west New Zealand. Forecast: Winds, moderate to strong north easterly to northerly rising to gale force in places in and south of Cook Strait, backing to southerly sbon in the far south and later southerlies becoming general. Weather, fair to fine and ■warm generally at first but soon buoining unsettled in western and far southern districts, with Tain developing and some heavy falls in Otago. Fairly widespread rain accompanying a southerly change after from 24 to 36 houxr. Hun rises, 4.43 p.m.; sets, 7.53 p.m. Lighting-up time:—-8.23 p.m.
