A HAPPY HOUR.

ORPHANAGE BOYB LUNCH WITH ROTARIANS.

Masterton Rotarians spent a particularly happy hour at their luncheon yesterday, in entertaining boys from the homes and orphanages of the town. There were present in all some 72 boys, 26 from the Whatman Home, 12 from Bedgley Home, 14 from the Methodist Home and 20 from private homes. At the conclusion of an excellent luncheon, served in the gaily-decorated dining room, the president, Mr. 8. L. P. Free, extended to the children and their attendants, a cordial welcome and wished them all the compliments of the festive season. A dish much sought after by the boys was the Christmas pudding, in the hopes of finding the usual threepenny. They were not disappointed, as many of them found two. Some very clever blackboard sketching was provided by way of entertainment. The speaker of the day was the Bev. H .White, of Gteytown, who gave the boys an inspiring talk oa keeping their lives clean. Comparing life to a wheel, Mr. White explained how necessary it was, if the best and smoothest running were to be got from the wheel, to keep the dirt out. Rotarian C. M. Bowden proposed a very hearty vote of thanks to the entertainer for his clever sketches and to tho speaker for his address to the boys. Commandant Batchelor, on behalf of the boys, sincerely thanked the Rotarians for their kindness in providing a treat which, judging by their happy faces and empty plates, he was sure they had all enjoyed. After the luncheon, the boys were allowed to visit’the Magic Cave. This kindly thought on the part of Mr. H. P. Hugo was very much appreciated.
