HIDE AND SKIN SALE.
IMPROVEMENT IN PRICES. WELLINGTON, August 26. An indication of the now noticeable improvement in .prices for raw materials was afforded by the business done at yesterday’s Wellington skin and hide sales. From brokers’ reports it is gathered that dry sheepskins were in good demand at an advance on previous sales rates of id to id per pound, and that salted skins were dearer by Id to 2d per skin. Hides showed no recession on previous sale rates, but kips were l-8d to id and calfskins id per -pound dearer. There was a fair demand for tallow-. The range of prices was as follows: —Dry sheepskins: Halfbred, 3 Id, fine crossbred 3id to 3id, medium 2Jd to Bd, coarse 2Jd to 3d. half wools 2d to 3d, quarter wools lid to 2Jd, pelts Jd to IJd; salted skins, quarter wools Kid, half wools Is to 1/4, three-quarter wools, 1/13 to 1/6, full wools 1/8 to 1/9, lambs 1/- Hides: Ox, 331 b to 441 b, 2 l-8d to 4d; 45/521b, 3d to 4 3-Sd; 53/591b, 3d to 4 5-8 d; 60-/6918, 4d to sid; o/701-b, 3 7-8 d to sid; cow, 33/B9lb, 3d to 4d; 40/481!b, 3d to 4id; o/491b, 3 5-8 d to 4id; kip, 25/321b, 3|d to 4 l-8d; 17/241b, 23-8 d to 4 l-8d; yearling, 11/161b, 2-Jd to 4 l-8d; calf, 9/10-lb, to 3Jd; -6/8-lb, 3id to sd; l/51b, 2 3-8 d to 6d.
