WAIRARAPA ASSOCIATION’S COMPETITIONS. THIRD ROUND MATCHES. The second series of matches in the third round of the Wairarapa HockeyAssociation’s fixtures were played on Saturday. The conditions were ideal and some first-class hockey was witnessed. Playing at the Lansdowne grounds, Carterton put up a good performance 'by defeating Kiwi A by two goals to nil. The game was evenly contested and proved fast and exciting. The Carterton defence, however, was too solid for the Kiwi forwards, who could not break through. Another good game was played at Carterton, when Y.M.C.A. Stags defeated Dalefield by three goals to one. Only one game was played in the B section, Y.M.C.A. Stars defeating Kiwi B by two goals to nil. The positions of the teams now stand as follow:—

LADIES’ RESULTS. Senior A.—Gladstone beat Greytown, 2/1; High School Old Girls beat Mauriceville by default; High School a bye. Senior B.—Parkvale beat Ramblers, 5/1; Old Girls beat Carterton, 4/0; Kahutara beat Dalefield, 4/0. Junior.—ln a challenge match for the Morris Cup,, Gladstone successfully retained the trophy by defeating Huesher by three goals to nil after an interesting game, which was played at Gladstone. DOMINION TOURNEY. DUNEDIN, August 27. The Dominion hockey tournament was continued to-day in fine but dull weather. All the teams showed a good standard of hockey. Results:— A Section.—Marlborough beat Eastern Southland B, 2/0; Otago A beat Central Otago, 5/1; Southland A drew with Wellington, 4 all. B Section.—Canterbury beat West Coast B, 5/1; Otago B beat 'Southland B, 2/0; West Coast A beat South Canterbury, 2/1. —(P.A.) OTAGO v. CANTERBURY. DUNEDIN, August 27. At men’s hockey, Otago met Canterbury in an interprovincial game at the Stadium to-day, winning by five goals to three. Canterbury scored in the last minutes of play. In the inter-Univer-sity game, Otago University beat Canterbury College by six goals to two.— (P.A.)
