COSY THEATRE.

“SCANDAL FOR SALE.” “Scandal For Sale,” from Emile Gauvreau’s famous novel, 4 * Hot News,” which comes to the Cosy to-day, when it will be shown at matinee and evening performances, is reputed to be filled with the manufactured news incidents which have so unscrupously increased the circulations of so-called “yellow journals.” The story is by the most famous of all tabloid editors. Many of its incidents appeared in an anonymous story which he wrote for the “Saturday Evening Post,” and his book has been circulated through endless editions in this country and has been translated already into seventeen different languages. Advance reports bring word of a hatchet murder, a “double crossing” beauty contest, and a fatal trans-Atlantic flight undertaken solely for the purpose of circulation. Russell Mack, its director, enlisted a corps of Los Angeles and Hollywood newspaper men for authentic atmosphere. The sets were built after plans and specifications of wellknown New York newspaper offices, though they were built in their entirety at Universal City. The cast of “Scandal For Sale’* is headed by Charles Bickford, Rose Hobart and Pat O’Brien, and there is a strong supporting cast. “Scandal For Sale” will be accompanied by an especially attractive supporting bill, including the Slim Summerville comedy “Officer Save My Child.” Seats may be reserved at Vare’s, ’phone 1333.
