The Rev. John Davie has been appointed deputy-chairman of the Central Belief Committee, which is at present considering the organisation of a shop day and street collection in Bid of the funds for the relief of distress.

The marriage was solemnised in Featherston recently of Flora, youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. Sutherland, Featherston, to Leslie, eldest son of Mt. and Mrs. H. Fenwick, Featherston. The ceremony was performed by the Bev. G. W. Blair. The wedding took place at StMark’s Church, Carterton, recently, of Rosie Maud Evelyn, second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. T. A. Hamilton, of Carterton, and Alfred Low, third son of Mrs. Parker, Lyall Bay, Wellington. The Rev. W. F. Stent, vicar of St. Mark’s, officiated.

The funeral of tho late Mrs. H. Emerson, which took place in Masterton on Thursday afternoon, was largely attended. A considerable number of very beautiful wreaths were received from sympathising friends. The services at the residence and at the cemetery were conducted Messrs. A. BL Heffernan and H. Brewerton. The pall-bearers were brothers of Mr. Emerson and his late wife.

The death took place at the residence, Victoria Street, Carterton, at an early hour yesterday morning, of Miss Mary Ann Isabella Armstrong, in her 82nd year. The late Miss Armstrong had lived most of her life in Carterton, and was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert Armstrong, of Wellington. For many years past, together with her sister, Miss Annette Armstrong, she had resided quietly in Victoria Street. Carterton.
