PLUNKET ACTIVITIES.

MISS PATTRICK VISITS MASTERTON. DIRECTOR OF NURSING SERVICES. Visiting Masterton yesterday, Misa I’attriek, Director of Plunket Nursing, was entertained at tea at the Plunket Rooms by the committee of .the Maserton branch. The president (Mrs. J. Caselberg) expressed the pleasure of those present at having the opportunity of meeting Miss Pattrick and learning something of her work. At present, Miss Pattrick is visiting some of the North Island branches of the Society and conferring with tho nurses as to their work. During the course of her most interesting talk, Miss Pattrick spoke on the Plunket district work and stressed the necessity of co-ordinating this branch of the work with that of all the other branches, which included six Karitane hospitals and Mothereraft Training centres. Miss Pattrick’s work includes the arranging of all relieving work, i.e., the supplying of holiday and sick leave nurses whenever required, also the interviewing of intending trainees. Sixty nurses are trained every year in the Training Centre for Plunket Nurses at Dunedin, and between 70 and 80 Karitane trainees in the various Karitane hospitals. In addition, all professional correspondence about Plunket and Karitane matters passes through her hands. Miss Pattrick assisted Sir Truby King in the establishment of Mothercraft work in London. In 1929, Mine Pattrick was the New Zealand delegate at the International Congress of Nurses held in Montreal.
