As the result of injuries received when their car plunged down a seven foot bank into a creek in Macara Street about 7.15 o’clock last night Mrs P. T. Gooding and Miss T. Gooding, of South Boad, were admitted to the Masterton Hospital suffering from severe flesh wounds and shock. They were both operated on immediately after admission to hospital but their condition was later reported to be quite satisfactory. Mrs and Miss Gooding were occupants of a car driven by Mr. Charles Burton, custodian of the Masterton Club, who was also accompanied by his small son Max. Mr. Burton was proceeding along Macara Street from Worksop Road with the intention of turning up Bannister Street. Mr. Burton’s car hit this embankment and was precipitated into the creek, a drop <f abouttiei'en feet. The occupants of the car, it is stated, were thrown out. The car landed on its wheels in the .creek and apart from a broken winlse.reen was not damaged. Mrs and Miss Gooding received fairly extensive cuts, apparently from the flying glass of ■•he windscreen. They were taken to a nearby residence and after being attended to by Dr. N. H. Prior were conveyed to the hospital. Mr. Burton and his son both escaped injury.
