WEDDING.

PENTELOW—JONES. A pretty rainbow wedding took place at the Carterton Methodist Church on Wednesday, the contracting parties being Edith Maria Hazel, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs J. E. Jones, of South Catrerton, and William, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs W. Pentelow, of Oaonui, Taranaki. The church was tastefully decorated for the occasion by the lady friends of the bride, and in the centre of the decorations was suspended a large white bell. The bri<Je, who was given away by her father, was attractively attired in a frock of ivory Satin, cut on close fitting lines with ankle length flared skirt. A veil, kindly lent by a friend, was held in place by a coronet of orange blossoms. Her shoes were of silver colour, and she carried a beautirful bouquet to tone. The bride was attended by her sister, Miss Beta Jones, as chief bridesmaid, Miss Annie Pentelow, sister of the bridegroom, and Miss Gladys Beer, of Waverley, cousin of the bride, who were dressed in apricot, torquoise, and mauve frocks respectively, all made on close fitting lines with fully flared ankle length skirts 'and shoulder capes and tuelle berettes finished with diamante buckles. All carried floral bouquets to tone with their frocks. Mr. Pentelow Willers, of Oaonui, was best man, and Messrs A. Pentelow (Oaonui) and T. Jones (Carterton) groomsmen. The ceremony vdas performed by the Rev — R. J. Liddell, and the service was , choral, with Miss Eu Liddell at the organ, the bride for a long period having been associated with the choir. All the bouquets were made by Miss MacKay, 6J* Masterton. The bridegroom’s gift to the bride was a handbag, and to Misses Jones and Beer signet rings, and to Miss Pentelow a torquoise necklet. After the ceremony a reception held at the residence of the bride’s parents was attended only by the immediate relatives of both families. Among the guests was Mrs M. Gordon, the bride’s grandmother. The bride’s mother received the guests, wearing a frock of fawn morocain, a bottle green hat and coat. The happy young couple left later by car for the south, the bride travelling in a frock of powder blue woollen crepe de chene with berettc to tone, and a brown fur fabric coat with shoes and stockings to match. Mr. and Mrs Pentelow, whose future home will be at Oaonui (Taranaki),, were the recipients of a large number of presents, and among them was a serviceable gift of cutlery from the members of the Carterton branch of the Loyal Orange Lodge, of which the bride is an esteemed member.
