DEVIL’S ELBOW.
PROPOSED SCHEME SHELVED AGAIN. LACK OF SUFFICIENT FUNDS. More was heard about the proposed Devil's Elbow Deviation at yesterday’s meeting of the Masterton County Council when the Unemployment Commissioner advised that the deviation had again been considered by the board at its meeting on June 8. While appreciating the fact that the work was an excellent one, on which labour could bo employed under the No. 5 Scheme, the board regretted that until sufficient funds were definitely assured no guarantee could be given that the No. 5 Scheme would be continued over the period required to carry the work to completion. “There should be a good chance of getting the work done now,’’ observed Councillor H. H. Mawley. The letter was received.
