1 ALE’S BUTTON” NOW SHOWING

“Alf z s Button,” which opened its reason at the Regent 'Theatre on Saturday is described as hilarious comedy, set in spectacular scenes and admirably produced. Colour has been used for the first time in a British all-talking picture and it is said to have been handled extremely well. . The story is that of Alf Higgins and Bill Grant, two Cockney soldiers. During a little unpleasantness with that hereditary enemy of all soldiers, the Sergeantinajor, Alf discovers that one of th«? buttons of his uniform has the power, Avhen briskly rubbed, of creating a Djinn, or as Alf prefers to call him a “Spook,” who is pledged to perform the bidding of the Lord of the Button, in this case Private Alf Higgins. When Bill learns the magic charm of the button, he immediately suggests that the “spook,” on whom Alf has decided to bestow the name of Eustace, tehali transport them back to a lavish palace in Blighty. Bill finds the flock of Eastern beauties, supplied by Eustace to serve them particularly to his liking, but when Alf accidently wishes Liz were by his side, the unlooked for happens and Liz immediately commences to denounce Alf for the company which he is keeping. Various oth-r g,musing complications are introduced and there are no dull spots as the comedy runs its merry course. Excellent supporting featurettes are included the programme.
