Considerable interest attached to a cross country contest between J. Horrnbrook and P. Borthwick, which t<mT place at the week-end. The match was over a distance of five miles, a commencement being made on the eastern side of Weraiti Hill. Hornabrook, a scratch player, completed the course in 73 strokes, and Borthwick, whose handicap is 6, in 85—both creditable perromances.
