MAILS BY AIR.
ESTABLISHMENT OF SERVICES IN NEW ZEALAND. TENDERS TO BE CALLED. AUCKLAND, November 4. It is expected that action will be taken by Cabinet this week to ensure the establishment of aerial mail services between Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin. The Post-inaster-Ceneral (the Hon. J. B. Donald) safd to-day that the Government hoped before the end of this week to call for tenders for aerial mail carriage. The Government was not prepared to grant a straight-out-subsidy, but was willing to allow a contracting firm to have the receipts from air stamps, less a percentage to cover the cost of transporting the mails from the airports to the post offices. Mr. Donald added that he hope’d to have the service in operation before Easter. —(P.A.)
