POISONOUS GASES.
COMPLETE PROTECTION GIVEN BY NEW MASK. (Received This Day, 0.49 a.m.) LONDON, August 26. The “News-Chronicle” correspondent at Berlin says that German chemists declare themselves to be satisfied with the lessons learnt in a three hours’ “gas bombardment” on the suburb of Kaiserslauten, Bavaria, directed by two well-known professors. Poisonous gases of the deadliest kind were used but a new type of gasmask is said to have completely protected the firemen and .policemen who “defended” the locality.
