ATTEMPTED ARSON.
SUSPICIOUS CASE IN SYDNEY. ELABORATE PLANS. SYDNEY, August 25. Plans for a determined effort to Jburn a block of buildings in Bathurst Street were frustrated by the suspicions of a woman in the ground-floor shop. She noticed two men leaving the upstairs premises, from which she knew the occupants were absent. She informed the police, who discovered tailoring rooms soaked in petrol. Electric wiring had been interfered with andi a string led down to the street door, ready for a pull to cause the fusing of the wires to ignite the petrol fumes. The premises are now guarded.
