DISPUTE AT MINE.
MILLERTON COLLIERY IDLE. EMPLOYEE DISMIS WESTPORT, August 25. As the result of a stop-work meeting held by the Millerton Miners’ Union yesterday in connection with the dismissal of an employee which the members claim to be a case of victimisation.. .'he colliery will remain idle until such time as the matter is satisfactorily adjusted. Four men ceased work as a protest against the unfair distribution of overtime. Three of the party were reinstated after interviewing the manager, but the fourth was refused employment and this decision precipitated the trouble. It is understood that the West Coast Miners’ Council will be asked to deal with the matter in the near future.—(P.A.)
