MUSIC WEEK.

COMBINED CHOIR REHEARSAL. The promoters of the Music Week Festival, which is to be held in Masterton in October, have reason to be well satisfied at the impetus given to the movement by the rehearsal of choral items held last evening in St. Matthew’s Parish Hall, under the direction of Mr. H. Temple White, of Wellington. There was a large muster of the combined choirs and some very helpful practice resulted. Mr. A. B. Wallace, chairman of the Music Week Committee, introduced the conductor to the gathering. Mr. Temple White, who commended the idea of Music Week, said that from a musical point of view the festival held recently in Wellington was a very great success. Masterton, he observed, was holding its function at a much better time of the year and would also not have the disadvantage of having the performances broadcast. That, combined with the wet weather experienced during the Wellington festival, rather spoilt the effort financially but they did not mind losing money as long as they reached the public, ‘and the broadcast gave country people the opportunity of hearing the performances.
