Masterton: Miss R, Robinson reported at 9 a.m.:— August 9: Barograph, 29.80; shade temperature, maximum 00.6, minimum 33.6.; terrestrial, 22.8; no rain, 5 hours 42 minutes sunshine. August 10:. Barograph, 29.90; shade temperature, maximum 50, minimum 40.2; terrestrial, 37.4;’ rain, 71 points. The Government Meteorologist (Dr. E. Kidson) reported af 4, pjn. yesterday:—The pressure is still rather low over the Tasman Sea and New Zealand, a cyclone of moderate intensity being centred west of the South Island. Forecast: Winds, light to fresh generally westerlies prevailing north of Kawkia and East Cape and northeast to south-east elsewhere. Weather mainly dull and unsettled with mist in places. Rain in most districts and some isolated heavy falls and thunder in the North Island. Temperatures cool in the south but elsewhere rather mild. Sun rises 7.2 a.m.; sun sets 5.9 p.m. Lighting-up time:—s.3s pan.
