Masterton: Miss R. Robinson reported at, 9 a.m. yesterday: Barograph £9.40; shade temperature, maximum ■ 53.8, minimum 41.6; terrestrial, 37.0; rain, 14 points; bright sunshine, 4 hours 42 minutes.
The Government Meteorologist (Dr. E. Kidson) reported at 4 p.m. yesterday:—The cyclone is now centred south of Chatham Island and is very intense; a moderate anti-cyclone is ad vanning over the Tasman Sea, but the pressure is again falling over eastern Australia; the forecast is for winds, south west to southerly and strong to gale force; seas rough generally; weather improving in western districts from Taranaki southwards, elsewhere cold, squally and showery, snow on the high country.
