Masterton: Miss R. Robinson reported at 9 a.m. yesterday: Barograph 29.24; shade temperature, maximum 48.4, minimum 38.8;. terrestrial, 28.6; rain, 78 points; sunshine, nil. Solway: Mr. H. M. Boddington re' ports that 16 points of rain were registered at Solway, for the 24 hours up till nine a.m, on Monday and 70 points were registered. for the 24. hours up till 9 a.m. yesterday. The Government Meteorologist (Dr. M Kidson) reported at 4 p.m. yesterday:—The eyclohfe is ;still very intense and extensive; the centre covers a largo area extending on both sides of Cook Strait. The forecast is for winds, variable and light to moderate, with sout'herlie‘B prevailing in the central portions of the Dominion, strong south-easterlies in the ■ south and strong soutlh-westerlies to gales in the north, later southerlies, freshening generally and reaching gale force in exposed positions; seas becoming rough generally. .Weather improving on the west coast of the South Island, elsewhere still dull, misty and unsettled with rain in most districts Bind some .heavy falls in places; cold temperatures, snow in the high -lands.
