WEATHER REPORTS.
Masterton.—*Mr. R. Brown reported at 9 a.m. yesterday: Barograph, 30.25; shade temperature: maximum 46.2. minimum 34.0; terrestrial, 25.8; rain, 10 .points; bright sunshine, 2 hours 20 minutes; frost, 4.6. Solway.—Mr. H. M. Boddington reports that 16 points of rain were registered at Solway for the 24 hours up till 9 o’clock yesterday morning. The Government Meteorologist (Dr. E. Kidson) reported at 4 p.m. yesterday:—A moderate anti-cyclone is moving on to southern New Zealand. A slight depression, of the westerly type, is located in the south Tasman Sea. Winds: Moderate south-west to southeast winds north of Westport and Akaroa, later backing gradually to northerlies, elsewhere light but freshening west to north winds. Seas: Still some swell on the East Coast, but otherwise smooth to moderate. Weather mainly fine generally, but still an isolated shower or two on the East Coast between Akaroa and East Cape, later scattered showers developing on the West Coast of the South Island and about Fovewux Strait. Cold temperatures, with many frosts. Lighting-up tame:—s.4 p.m.
