COSY THEATRE. “FASHIONS FOR WOMEN” •Esther Ralston’s starring vehicle “Fashions For Women” is to be screened again to-night at the Cosy Theatre. This picture is <a riot of comedy, beautiful mannequins and gorgeous gowns. The story, adapted frohi the play “The Girl Of The Hour, ’ ’ brings Miss Rai ston to the screen as a full-fledged star. “Fashions For Women” is the highly amusing tale of a Farision model who disappears on the eve of a big style show and her place is taken by a “cigarette girl,” who desires to be near her sweetheart, to whom she has failed to be introduced. They are mutually attracted, but when he learns of her supposed past all is off. But she pleads with him to wait for the big fashion parade, knowing it is then that the real (mannequin will stage a return and clean her own name. On the day the real mannequin fails to appear and—we’ll see how charming Esther Ralston explains it all and how she points out to her lover that she is not the woman he thinks she is. “Fashions For Women” is the most gorgeous and greatest fashion show yet seen on th* screen. Supporting Miss Ralston are Rlaymond Hatton and Einar Hanson. Seats may be (reserved at Vare’s music house or by ringing the Theatre after 6.30 p.m.

“THE MIDNIGHT FROLICS.” The “Midnight Frolics,” Clem Dawe and the Frolics Jazz Band of 12, together with a company of singers, dancers, comedians, musicians, and sketch artists, constitute the next- J. C. Wiliamson attraction, who appear at the Opera House, Masterton, on Monday and Tuesday next, for two mights only. Clam Dawe, the well-known comedian and pantomiinist, who first appeared in the Dominion under the auspices of the J. C. Williamson, and •who subsequently went into vaudeville, heads the list of comedians with the company. A Brisbane “Courier” critic says: “Clem Dawe holds the laugh and encore record for Australia, for he provides the real champagne of wit. The Frolics do not stand or fall by one personality, as the company is full of talented artists. The production is full of amazing vitality and the have brilliant and original material to work on. Some of the music provided by the Frolics Jazz Band of 12 is distinctive and the syncopation is marvellous. All the players are musicians of a high standard. * Their interpretation of operatic music or jazz instruments provides an outstanding turn.” The comedians supporting Clem Dawe include Eric Edgley, Les and Dorothy White and Gertie Cremer. Singers are William Perryman, Oscar Beck. The specialty dancer is Phylffs Amery, and there are special musical numbers by Gregory Ivanoff and the Frolics Jazz Band. The company’s programmes include genuinely original and humorous (sketches, rich musical numbers, haunting melodies, and operatic items, clever dancing, and all the ingredients oY popular revue.
