ANOTHER PERIL.
AFTERMATH OF FLOODS IN TASMANIA. PRECAUTIONS AGAINST. DISEASE. THOUSANDS OF ANIMALS DROWNED. LAUNCESTON, April 10. Every precaution is being taken to prevent an outbreak of disease following the devasting floods. Some suburbs are still inundated, and boats of all descriptions are paddled along the flooded, streets. The flood was responsible for the deaths of thousands of fowls and ducks, as well as cats, dogs, and cattle. Many bodies of animals have floated into houses, and permission must be obtained from the Health Officer before people can regain their premises.—(Australian Press Associatino). FEDERAL GOVERNMENT GRANT. (Received Wednesday, 7.30 p.m.) SYDNEY, April 10. The Federal Government has given £5OOO for the relief of the Tasmanian flood sufferers.—(Australian Press Association).
