: PROFITS FOR PAST HALF-YEAR. SYDNEY, March 21. The report of the Commonwealth Bank discloses profits for the half-year , ended December 31, 1928, in the general banking department of £218,267. Other profits are: Rural credits, £20,528; savings bank, £129,315; note issue, £449,094. The directors state that the bank continues its steady and progressive development and usefulness as a national institution, which does not encroach upon the legitimate fields of other banking institutions.—(Australian Press Association.)
