DUCK DECOYS.
MOVE FOR DISALLOWANCE SHOOTER OBJECTS Sane amusement, was caused at Wednesday night's meeting of the Wellington Acclimatisation Society, over Which Mr 8. G. Nathan presided, by a letter to the society from Mr R. J. King, a resident of Masterton, concerning the question of duek decoys. **l have just read in our local paper," wrote Mr King, “that at a meeting of the so-called Wairarapa North Sub-Centre of the Wellington Acclimatisation Society a resolution was carried ‘ that it be recommended to the parent- body that decoys be not Bilowed while shooting ducks/ I consider that this -suggestion coming from b meeting of fishermen is quite unreasonable, for from my experience of (hooting at the lakes the decoys only come off about one year in three. The ether two years the ducks will not de coy. It is also a fact that for our license fee we get very little shooting, as a great number of those taking out a license only shoot at the Lake two days in the whole season. If further restrictions are placed on us you will restrict licenses, and encourage those who do nort. take out one, to practically take the ducks the whole year round. I have being going to the Wairarapa Lake for a great number of years, and there are as many ducks now as there were twenty years ago. The people who passed this resolution I know personally, and I believe that they could not hit a haystack if it happened to be on the wing. I feel justified in saying that I have little doubt that this matter will get a short shift when it comes before your committee, which is compiled of sportsmen, as well as shooting men." The letter was received.
