Vallan.ee, “Kahumingi,” jW.ho is at present in Glenwood Private H<wpital, Masterton, suffering from injuries sustained a few days ago in a motor car accident, is reported to be progressing satisfactorily. It will l>e a few days, however, liefore he wiM be able to leave the institution. | Speaking at a banquet at Invercargill last night, Sir Joseph Ward announced that he had appointed. Mr J. •S. Hunter, assistant to the General Manager of Railways, to take charge .of the recently created Transport Department. —(P.A.) , Mr D. A. Strachan, Senior Inspector of >Schools in the Wellington District, intimated to the Wellington Education Board yesterday that he would be resigning at the end of next month. Mt Strachan entered the Education service in 1888, after having been dux of the Port Chalmers District High School, and then passed to the Otago Training College in 1892, and proceeded to the university as Education Board Exhibitioner in the same year. He graduatied BA. three years tat er, wontheMacnndrew Scholarship in Political Economy in 1894, and took his M.A. with double honours the following ycex.
