MANAWATU CLUB’S OPENING DAY. RAPIER WINS AWAPUNI GOLD CUP. MANAWATU STAKES TO GAY BALLERINA. PALMERSTON N., March 20. Although the ifianawatu Racing Club’s autumn meeting at Awapuni td-day opened in blustery weather, with heavy showers before the first race, it cleared up later and the weather by the end of the day was fine and mild. The course was on the holding side, following the recent rains. The attendance was up to that of previous years. The totalisator put through £21,752, against £24,341 for the first day last year.
