OWNERSHIP OF LAND.
ADDITION TO BEAUTIFYING SOCIETY RULES.
When the Masterton Beautifying Society came into existence and the rules of its constitution were prepared, no provision, strange to say, was made relating to the acquisition or ownership of land by the society. The position has now arisen that the Society has come into possession of a section in Essex Street, which it desires to sell, but, having no legal power under its constitution to own land, the society consequently has no power to sell. The question was mentioned at the annua! meeting of the society last night, when it was stated that additional rules empowering the society to acquire and own land had been submitted to and accepted by the Registrar of Incorporated Societies. A formal resolution authorising the new provision to be added to the rules of incorporation was carried at the meeting.
