JOINING FOREIGN OFFICE STAFF RETIREMENT FROM THE NAVY (Received Tuesday, 7 p..m.) United Press Association.—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. LONDON, March 19. An announcement from Buckingham Palace stating that Prince George is to join the staff of the Foreign Office adds that the Prince has retired from active participation in the work of the Boyal Navy in consequence of medical advice. Speaking at a Civil Service banquet lost night, Prince George said: “I hope to acquit myself and take a worthy share in the Civil Service, both at home and abroad.—(Australian Press Association—United Service.) (An earlier message states that Prince George will undertake work in the Western Department of the Foreign Office, which deals with the western countries of Europe. The purpose of the Prince’s entry into the Foreign Office is that, he may obtain first-hand knowledge of the conduct of foreign affairs.)
HEALTH REASONS (Received Tuesday, 11.46 p.m.) LONDON, March 19. [ The "Daily Mail’’ says that Prince fieorge is quitting the Navy solely for I reasons of health, as it was felt that hrs constitution is not sufficienly robust ’lto withstand the strenuous demands ’ a sea career. When he goes to the Office he will ho treated as an .ordinary member of the staff.—(Ajistralian Press Association.)
