A SUCCESSFUL YEAR.
BEAUTIFYING SOCIETY’S ANNUAL MEETING. ELECTION OF OFFICERS. The work of the Maatertua Beautify* i«g Society during the past year wna reviewed at the annual meeting in the Municipal Buildings last night, the president, Dr Archer Hosking, presiding over a small attendance. The annual report, which nas already been published in "The Age," was adopted. In moving i's adoption, the president said that street tree-planting had been stepped in the me-toflmo for the valid reason that the Borough Council did not wish the tree-planting operations to extend too far owing to the cost of upkeep. The balance sheet showed a credit of £5OO- ss. 7d. The following officers were elected:— President, Dr. Archer Hosking; vicepresidents, Messrs. C. E. Daniell. G. Selby, L. B. Maunsell; committee, Messrs. P. A. Macomish, F. Chaytor, A. H. Brennan, A. Ball, J. Mulvey, F. W. Martin, J. Allan, H. E. Gardner, T_ Robinson, E. W. Payton, J. Horton, A. * W. Reynolds.
