BEAUTIFYING SOCIETY’S ANNUAL MEETING. ELECTION OF OFFICERS. The work of the Maatertua Beautify* i«g Society during the past year wna reviewed at the annual meeting in the Municipal Buildings last night, the president, Dr Archer Hosking, presiding over a small attendance. The annual report, which nas already been published in "The Age," was adopted. In moving i's adoption, the president said that street tree-planting had been stepped in the me-toflmo for the valid reason that the Borough Council did not wish the tree-planting operations to extend too far owing to the cost of upkeep.
