WAIRARAPA COMPETITIONS CONTINUED. CARTERTON AND HIGH SCHOOL WIN Ideal weather prevailed on Saturday when the Wairarapa senior cricket matches were continued. Both senior games were concluded, Old Boys going down to Carterton and High School proving too strong for United. The Old Boys-Cartenrton cricket match was concluded at Carterton in excellent weather on Saturday on a fast, hard wicket. Carterton made 280 in the first innings, as against Old Boys’ 144. HIGH SCHOOL v UNITED The High School match against United was concluded on Saturday, glorious weather prevailing. With two wickets down for 40 runs United carried on, but were unfortunate in losing Blamires'and F Hoar soon after the commencement oif the game. The last wicket stand of Smith and Madsen was responsible for 80 runs, and the innings closed with the score at 252, 99 runs .short of High School’s effort. Farnsworth who captured four wickets for 74 runs, was the outstanding bowler. High School’s second knock produced 139 for seven wickets. K. Uttley with a vigorous 58 was the topscorer.
