FOURTH CHRISTCHURCH SALE. KEEN BIDDING FOR GOOD LINES. I — COMPETITION GENERAL. CHRISTCHURCH, March 15. The fourth wool sale at Christchurch was held to-day, 13,100 bales being offered. Practically the whole catalogue was cleared, the percentage of passings being very small. There was a fair selection of fine quality wools. The eondition, as usual at this time of the year, was rather heavy and •discoloured and showing dust. Bidding was keen for good wools, but irregular for inferior fleeces and pieces. The competition was general, the bulk of the offerings being taken by Bradford and the Continent. Prices were up to expectations. Those for fleece wool were equal to the rates ruling in the previous sale, with crossbred slightly better. Pieces, crutchings, bellies and locks were all cheaper than at the sale here last month.
Following is the range of prices:-— Merino, 64/70, 60/64.—Super, 17$d to 18|d; average, 14d to 17£d; inferior, lid to 13fd. Corriedale.— Extra super to 22d; super 18£d to 20£d; average, 16|d to 18|d; inferior, 12d to 15d. Fine Halfbred, 58, 56/58, 56.—Super, 19d to 20jd; average, 16jd to 18|d; inferior, 14d to 15|d. Medium Halfbred, 50/56, 50. —Super, 18d to average, 15|d to 17jd; inferior, 13d to 15d. Coarse Half bred.—Super, 17d to 18d; average, 15id to 16fd; inferior, 12jd to 14id. Fine Crossbred, 46/58. —Super, 15|d to 16id; average, 14d to 15d; inferior, 12d to 13|d.
Medium Crossbred, 44/46. —Super, 14|d to 15|d; average, 13d 14d; inferior, lid to 12d. Coarse Crossbred, 40/44. —Average, 12jd to 13|d; inferior, lid to 12d. Bellies and Pieces.—Merino, good to super, 124 d to 15d; merino, low to medium, lOd to 12d.
Bellies.—Halfbred, good to super, ll|d to 14£d; low to medium, 10d to lid.
Pieces, —Halfbred, good to super, 14|d to 18jd; low to medium, 9Jd to 14d. (
Bellies and pieces.—Crossbred, good to super, lOd to 12d; low to medium, 7d to 9|d.
