BISHOP CHERRINGTON.
LAY SYNODSMEN DESIRE RESIGNATION CRITICAL STATE OF AFFAIRS HAAIILTON, March 13. Bishop Cherrington in the afternoon continued a conference with lay synodsmon who had passed a resolution desiring the Bishop’s resignation. After replying to criticism the Bishop asked the laity to rescind the resolution and then withdrew. A motion to rescind was lost by 17 to 9. When: the Synod resumed Canon Gavin (Waitara) suggested, in view of the critical state of affairs in the diocese, that the Bishop should ask other Bishops to meet and consider the matter informally with him. The Bishop said that he would consider the suggestion.— (P.A.)
