When the body of-Lord Tennyson, a former Governor General of Australia was conveyed from Farringford to Freshwater Church, Isle of Wight, on the night of December 4 to await burial the following d-ap, it was borne in Jhe farm cart used at the burial of his (father, the Great Pojt Laureate. Estate servants and tenants and a large number of villagers followed in procesion, carrying lanterns.
