Mr A. McDonald will leave for 'Sydney to-day to see his horse, High Disdain, in action at the A.J.C. meeting. | Mt T. P. Gilfedder, Registrar of Pensions, Wellington, will be a visitor to Masterton to attend a sitting of the I Pensions Court on Saturday.

( Messrs Welch and Hope, contractors, Masterton, were the successful tenderers for the' erection of Mr. H. A. Harcombe’s new garage, on the corner of Church and Dixon streets. Votes of condolence with the relaItives of the late Mr S'. Mawdey and the late Mir. A. McLeod were passed yesterday by the general committee of the Masterton A. and P. Association. I Delegates of the New Zealand Master Carriers’ conference, sitting in Masterton yesterday, passed a vote of icondolence with the relatives of Mt. R. M. Griffiths, who was a vice-presi-dent of the federation.. Mr Griffiths fatal injuries when he was journeying to attend the last annual conference.

Mr E. Collier, manager of the Grey- ' town Fruit-growing Company, with ' Mrs Collier end their two daughters, will be setting out on April 26 on an ■ extended visit to Great Britain end 1 America. They -expect to be away for f about six months. They will go Home : via Australia, and possibly may return by way of America. 1 Mr T. J. Lea, who has, for the last 23 years been manager of the Pahia- * tua branch of the Bank of New South 1 Wales, and who has retired on .super- ' annuation,was the guest of honour at ? a very large gathering of business ’ men, friends, and clients of the bank * at Pahiatua when he was presented ’ with a cheque for a substantial * amount. Mrs Lea was presented with an oaken sliver salver.
