Masterton.—Mr. R. Brown reported at 9 a an. yesterday: Barograph, 30.4. Shade temperature: Maximum, 63.4; minimum, 47.6; terrestrial, 44.6: rainfall, 27 points; bright sunshine, Ihr. 30mins. •
Solway.—Mr. H. M. Boddington reports that 24 points of rain were registered at Solway for the 24 hours up till 9 o’clock yesterday morning.
The Government Meteorologist (Dr. E. Kidson) reported at 4 p.m. yesterday:—Evening forecast: A moderate cyclone had developed from the recent depression and is now centred north of Auckland and <a moderate anti-cyclone is located in the south-west Tasman Sea. The forecast is for fresh to strong north to west and later southwest winds north of Auckland, elsewhere moderate, to strong south to east, reaching gale force in parts of Cook Strait and the east coast of the North Island; rough seas in Strait and generally rising seas on the east coast, but moderate on the West Coast, fresh strong southerly winds and rather rough seas in the eastern Tasman Sea; scattered showers in the eastern districts, mainly on the coast, but otherwise fait in the South Island, unsettled in the Noir th Island' with general rain and some heavy falls and in places hail and thunder; coo 1! temperatuies. Lighting-up time—s.3B p.m.
