The Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon. J. G. Coates, who spent yesterday in Auckland, returned to Wellington last night. The death occurred yesterday at the Masterton Hospital of John Reilly, who was admitted to the institution last Wednesday. The deceased, a single man, wUs by occupation a station cook. He was aged 56 years. Sir Truby King returned to Auckland by the Niagara yesterday after a six months’ visit abroad. As far as the Plunket Society and its mission are concerned the most outstanding impression he had was of the amazing progress’made on the other side since he was there nine years ago.—(P.A.) Noted l dignitaries of the Boman Catholic Church are passengers by the Niagara, reports an Auckland Press Association message, to attend the Eucharistic Congress at Sydney. They include Bishop Heylen, of Namur, President of the Permanent Committee of the Congress; Comte D. Yanville, of Paris, Permanent Secretary of the Congress; Prince F. De Croy, who was Dean of Mons during the war, and Bishop Deschamps, of Montreal. A pleasant gathering took place at the ®ank of Australasia, Master.' on, on Friday, when a presentation was made to Mr. H. B. Dyer, who has retired o<n pension, frdTn the staffs of the Masterton and Featherston branches of the Bank. In making the presentation, which took the foam of a gold-mounted fountain pen, the Masterton manager, Mr. A. G. Lawson, referred to Mr Dyer’s many good* qualities and wished him, on behalf of his fellow-officers, every happiness in the future. Mr. Dyef feelingly replied. / - j{ - - - A___
