WINNERS AT CANTERBURY PARK MEETING. AUCKLAND, August 13. Mr. F. Earl, K.C., has received cabled advice that his three-year-old gelding Perception was successful at the Canterbury Park (Sydney) meeting on Saturday. The race won by Perception would be the three-year-old handicap, as his name figured in the list of nominations for that, event. It is understood that Eden Hall, who was recently sold to an Australian buyer, was also a winner at the Canterbury Park meeting.—(P.A.) ?
DEATH OF FAMOUS SIRE. WANGANUI, August 13. The Sundridge stallion Absurd, died at Mr. T. M. Currie’s Koatanui Stud on Friday. During the ten years Absurd has been at the stud, he has had a wonderful career and sired winners of about a quarter of a million sterling in stakes. —(P.A.)
